Lotte Manders is an animator, filmmaker and sculptor. In her work she invites the audience to explore being something else. By researching this, she questions our different ways of knowing. She finds it important to be critical of prejudice when it comes to our knowledge of the non-human. How can we truly know what it is like to be other then the self? This question is the basis of her practice as an artist.
Lotte mostly works with audiovisual media. In this she is exploring the poetics of moving image and autonomy. The topics she researches are always closely related to her own memories and inspirations. This makes her approach very grounded. Most of her projects start with simple questions like: what if I were a snail, bird or another living entity? These questions then evolve into research and take into account the entangled stories that make our knowledge.
